Aromatherapy Massage
Aromatherapy Massage - is
one method of applying Essential Oils to the body for their therapeutic
effects. I use the "Micheline Arcier Technique" to apply the essential
oils that are chosen based on what you need, and are blended in
nutritious benficial carrier oils. It is a slow, gentle and rhythmic
massage, it may help improve and enhance lymphatic flow, which in turn
removes toxins and impurities from your body tissue. Aromatherapy
involves the use of essential oils, often through massage. Individual
blends are prepared by the practitioner, in a base of cold pressed oil
and then applied to the patient's skin through a remedial or relaxing
massage. It is important that they are not used directly on the skin,
as burning or rashes could occur. As a holistic
treatment, aromatherapy can have a profound effect on physical and
psychological well-being. There exists the belief that scent, as the
most enduring of our senses, has the power to transform our emotions,
and heal our bodies.
The
Essential Oils used in aromatherapy are extracted from plants and herbs
to treat conditions ranging from infections and skin disorders to
immune deficiencies and stress. When aromas are detected in the nasal
cavity, impressions associated with previous experiences and emotions
are created. Combining this with the fact that the parts of the brain
that control heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, memory, stress
levels and hormone balance are also related to the nasal cavity, it is
evident that the use of essential oils contributes to and achieves many
physiological or psychological effects.
The
benefits of essential oils can be obtained through inhalation or by
external application. Aromatherapy is easy to practice, readily
available, and effective as a therapy, but should be used with care.
Hot Stone Massage
Stone
therapy massage utilises both hot and cold stones incorporated with
massage techniques in order to bring about a feeling of deep
relaxation and well-being.
The
stones are heated or chilled to varying temperatures and come in all
shapes and sizes and are placed on the client according to their
needs and when used with massage, can provide benefits that are not
possible through normal massage.
Stone
therapy is a thermotherapy, using stones to provide both heat and cold
and the combination of alternating temperatures can be very beneficial.
The heated stones are used on key acupressure sites and the heat relaxes the muscles, allowing for a much deeper massage.
Heated
stones can also be placed on the body chakras, or energy points,
working with the body natural energy to create balance both
physically and mentally.
Alternatively,
the stones can be used as a kind of place marker, letting the
therapist know where more specific massage or treatments are needed.
The stones come in different shapes and sizes and the therapist will select the stones according to your needs.
Cold
stones are used to reduce and treat inflammation, to remove blood
from a swollen area and to rebalance the male and female energies in
the body in order to restore the body to a state of harmony.
Cold stones can also be used for detoxification purposes.
Using
hot & cold stones together can improve the functioning of the
circulatory system and assist the body with its self-healing
processes.
When
getting a stone therapy massage, it is not unusual for the clients
body temperature, heart rate and breathing rate to rise and fall
during the treatment. This is not harmful and is merely the result of
the rapid exchange of oxygenand blood in the body.
All
five senses are catered for in a stone therapy massage, with
aromatherapy oil and other relaxing tools being used when the massage
is carried out.
The
therapist's goal is to bring about deep relaxation in the client so
that negativity is removed and the client feels an overall sense of
well-being.
